Proper lubrication and maintenance can provide long bearing life

Relubrication of bearings should be carried out during planned equipment downtime and replenished regularly. At the same time, old grease should be removed or squeezed out through the drain holes. Before adding new grease, the grease nipple should be wiped clean. If there is no grease nipple in the bearing housing, open the bearing cap or end cap and remove the old grease. After cleaning, the same type of fresh grease should be added.

2. Lubricate with lubricating oil

Regularly check the oil level and oil quality of the lubricating oil. In general, the normal oil level should be within the range of 1/3-2/3 of the equipment oil level window or mark. The oil replenishment method is an oil cup, and the displayed oil level only represents the oil replenishment capacity, while the oil level of the bearing box meets the operating requirements. If the oil level in the oil cup is less than 1/4 of its total volume, consider topping up.

Check and replenish oil. Take a small amount of lubricating oil as a sample and compare it with fresh lubricating oil. The competent unit may consider carrying out oil quality inspection to ensure that the oil quality is qualified. If the sample looks like a cloud, it may be the result of mixing with water, also known as oil emulsification. At this point, the lubricating oil should be replaced. If the sample darkens or thickens, it may indicate that the oil has begun to carbonize. The old lubricating oil should be completely replaced. If possible, the oil circuit should be flushed with fresh lubricating oil. When replacing the lubricating oil, it should be ensured that the new and old types of lubricating oil replaced are the same, and the oil level should meet the requirements.

Use an oil bath lubrication system. If the oil temperature is lower than 60 (140), and the lubricating oil is not contaminated, the lubricating oil can be changed once a year. If the oil temperature is 60-100 (140-210), the lubricating oil needs to be changed four times a year. If the oil temperature is 100-120 (210-250).

Correct installation and maintenance are important factors for the normal operation of bearings. At the same time, care must be taken to maintain the cleanliness of the bearings. Bearings must be protected from contamination and moisture, and must be properly mounted and lubricated. In addition, the design of the bearing arrangement, the condition of the oil seals, the form and replacement cycle of the lubricant, and special maintenance also play an important role and must be paid attention to.
